Rapid Championship:

Swiss system: 13 rounds.

Blitz Championship:

Two-stage format:

Swiss qualifier, followed by a knockout stage for the top 4 players.

Time Controls:

Rapid: 15 minutes + 10-second increment per move.

Blitz: 3 minutes + 2-second increment per move.

FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships 2025 is set to take place in Doha, Qatar, from December 25 to December 31, 2025. Featuring both rapid and blitz time controls, it attracts the world’s top players and offers a €1 million prize fund, divided between Open and Women’s sections. Winners in both disciplines will be crowned world champions.
