Format

The Chessable Masters format consists of three stages:

Qualifier (Day 1): A 9-round Swiss tournament with a 10+0 time control, open to titled players (except GMs). The top 3 advance to the next stage.

Play-In (Day 2): Another 9-round Swiss event, open to all GMs and the top 3 from the Qualifier. The top 15 advance to the Match Play Phase, where players ranked 2nd-8th draft their opponents for head-to-head matches.

Playoffs (Days 3-6): A double-elimination bracket with 16 players (8 from Play-In + 8 invited). The winners' bracket has 4 games, and the losers' bracket has 2 games.

The top 12 players on the Tour leaderboard will qualify for the 2025 EWC.

About

The Chessable Masters is the first event of the 2025 Champions Chess Tour, to be held from February 16 to 21.

It's an online tournament with a prize fund of $150,000, it brings the new fast 10+0 time control, making the game an action-packed and exciting experience.

Among invited players are five-time Tour Champion Magnus Carlsen and world number two Hikaru Nakamura. The event gives a golden opportunity for players to garner points for their qualification for the Esports World Cup, which for the first time in history features chess.
