Elham Amar just arrived from the Junior World Championship, where he made an impressive sprint after a weak start, securing the bronze medal. He is for sure hungry for another win.
Solid is usally a good approach against an aggressive and strong tactical player like Elham. Yilmaz is taking control over the center and opening up for queena and bishop, just like Elham
Elham is developing the knight and putting pressure on the e5 pawn. Not exactly a surprise, but he has had great success witht Nc3 as well, the so called Vienna, where white has many attacking ideas.
Black has other options, but this knight move protecting the e5-pawn, is by far the most played move.
The Ruy Lopez, or Spanish. Perhaps the most played opening ever. A deep strategic game usually follows. The bishop puts pressure on blacks knight, which can later be captured making the e5-pawn undefended
The a6 pawn is asking white's bishop what it wants to do. Should I take or should I go?
Again the most common move. Taking the knight is also possible, but don't be fooled, you are not winning the e5-pawn after Bxc6 dxc6 Nxe5 Qd4!
The knight is putting pressure on white's pawn. f6 and c6 are usually the best starting squares for the black knights, because they are controlling the center.
Elham brings the king to safety and is ready to strike in the center. Yilmaz should be careful with taking the e4 pawn with his own king not yet castled.
Yilmaz is protecting the king with his bishop renewing the threat on the pawn on e4 and getting ready to castle
Yilmaz is avoiding Elham's threat
The b-pawn stops white's knight from developing, but creates a few weaknesses.
