The 7th round brings two players against each other who have similar traits in their playing styles. The dynamic Caruana versus the creative Jobava. Jobava has had a relatively quieter event so far, being undefeated in his six games. Caruana suffered one loss to Bacrot in the 3rd round but has come back with three wins in a row, the short work of Murali Karthikeyan in the 6th round being particularly impressive.
Caruana outpaces Jobava hugely in Elo rating as well as age, and is thus the favorite going into the game. But the well-known creativity of Jobava combined with the exciting format of freestyle chess might still produce surprises!
